LMU-DCOM publishes no hours for clinical experience, shadowing, volunteering, or research. What it does require is the letter: 'one Pre-Medical Committee letter OR two letters from science professors AND one Physician Letter DO or MD'. The physician letter is unconditional (it is required on top of whichever academic option you choose), so plan for enough physician time that one can be written for you. Letters must be on official letterhead, signed, and no more than three years old. LMU-DCOM does not state different requirements for its Harrogate, Knoxville, and Orange Park campuses; this is the Orange Park campus reading off the same page.

Service with no medical angle. Committees are reading for a habit, not a total, so one commitment held for two years beats five one-off events.

100+ hours

Effectively expected at research-heavy MD programs and genuinely optional at many DO and community-focused schools. If research is not your path, put those hours into clinical work and say so clearly rather than padding a semester in a lab.

No published minimum

"One Pre-Medical Committee letter" or, in its place, two letters from science professors. If you use the committee letter it "should include the names and credentials of all committee members."

"Two letters from science professors", the substitute for the pre-medical committee letter. LMU-DCOM rules out whole departments: "letters from social sciences (e.g., psychology) professors and mathematics professors will not fulfill the science LOR requirement."
