Most medical schools ask for 100+ hours and list it as recommended.

Unusually blunt for an MD program: 'Successful applicants must demonstrate ability and interest to do clinical, basic science, public health or translational research.' No hours figure is published, and the definition is wide (public health and translational work count, not just bench science), but research is not optional here the way it is at most schools.
