Coursework

  • Biology with labrequiredextra here

    2 semesters · 8 credits · lab

"General Biology I and II (with labs)", for science majors. Le Moyne starts its biology requirement at the introductory sequence, which most PA programs skip.

  • General chemistry with labrequired

    2 semesters · 8 credits · lab

"General Chemistry I and II (with labs)", for science majors.

  • Organic chemistry with labrecommendedextra here

    3 credits

"Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry", one course for science majors. Organic chemistry is one of two ways to answer this line; no laboratory is named.

  • Biochemistryrequired

    1 semester · 3 credits

"Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry", one course for science majors. Either subject answers it; no laboratory is named.

  • Physics with labrecommendedextra here

    3 credits

Physics I is one of three subjects that can fill the two quantitative slots: "Physics I, Statistics I and/or Calculus I (or higher) in any combination." No laboratory is named.

  • English or writing-intensiverequireddiffers

    1 semester · 3 credits

Most PA programmes ask for 2 semesters · 6 credits and list it as recommended.

"English Composition or Technical Writing", one course. AP credit applied by your prior institution is acceptable here.

  • Statisticsrequired

    1 semester · 3 credits

Statistics is one of three subjects that can fill the "Two courses in Quantitative Content (Physics I, Statistics I and/or Calculus I (or higher) in any combination)". Two quantitative courses are required in total; statistics alone is not mandated, but two semesters of statistics would satisfy the whole requirement.

  • Calculusrecommendedextra here

    1 semester · 3 credits

Calculus I or higher is one of three subjects that can fill the two quantitative slots, alongside statistics and physics, in any combination.

  • Psychologyrecommendeddiffers

    1 semester · 3 credits

Most PA programmes ask for 1 semester · 3 credits and list it as required.

Psychology is not required by name. It is one of three subjects, with anthropology and sociology, that fill the two required social science courses in any combination.

  • Advanced biologyrequiredextra here

    lab

"Four Upper-Level Biology Courses (at least two must include a lab and have been taken within the last five years.)" The checklist specifies course numbers of 200 or above, for science majors. Highly recommended choices are cell and molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, and anatomy and physiology; also recommended are neurobiology, endocrinology, pathology and evolution. Credit totals are not published; the requirement is stated as four courses.

  • Anatomy and physiologyrecommendeddiffers

    2 semesters · 8 credits · lab

Most PA programmes ask for 2 semesters · 8 credits · lab and list it as required.

Not a named prerequisite. Anatomy and physiology is listed as "highly recommended" coursework toward the four required upper-level biology courses, and it is the obvious way to fill two of those slots with lab.

  • Microbiologyrecommendeddiffers

    1 semester · 4 credits · lab

Most PA programmes ask for 1 semester · 4 credits · lab and list it as required.

Not a named prerequisite. Microbiology is listed as "highly recommended" coursework toward the four required upper-level biology courses.

  • Medical terminologyrecommended

    1 credits

Required outright by nearly half of programs, which is more than its recommended level here suggests. Several refuse a certificate or a free online course and want transcript credit; a few teach it after acceptance instead.

  • Social sciences and humanitiesrequiredextra here

    2 semesters · 6 credits

"Two Courses in Social Sciences (psychology, anthropology or sociology in any combination)". The checklist's examples include abnormal, developmental, personality, aging, cross-cultural and health psychology, human sexuality, counseling, sociology and anthropology.

Experience hours

  • Patient care experiencerequireddiffers

    750+ hours

Most PA programmes ask for 500+ hours.

"At least 750 hours of quality direct patient contact experience to begin the PA program." The checklist says paid, volunteer, or a combination. "Competitive applicants will have this amount (or close to it) when you apply." The program does not publish a list of which roles count.

  • Healthcare experiencerecommended

    500+ hours

Le Moyne publishes one direct patient contact figure and does not separate healthcare experience from patient care experience. No healthcare experience number is stated.

  • PA shadowingrecommended

    20+ hours

Shadowing is not mentioned on the admission requirements page or the prerequisite checklist. No hours figure is recorded.

Letters

  • Science faculty letterrecommendeddiffers

    1 letter

Most PA programmes publish no minimum.

The required academic letter has no department attached. The third letter is "one other academic or clinical recommendation", so a science professor is a sensible but not mandatory choice.

  • Faculty letter (any discipline)requiredextra here

    1 letter

Of the three required letters, "one academic recommendation" is mandatory. No department is specified.

  • PA letternot required here

No PA letter is required. The clinical letter may come from any clinical or professional recommender.

  • Supervisor letterrequireddiffers

    1 letter

Most PA programmes publish no minimum and list it as recommended.

Of the three required letters, "one clinical/professional recommendation" is mandatory. A supervisor from your direct patient care work is the natural writer; the program does not name a PA or physician specifically.

Le Moyne's list is shaped differently from most PA programs: it does not name anatomy and physiology or microbiology as standalone lines. It requires "General Biology I and II (with labs)", "General Chemistry I and II (with labs)", "Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry", "Four Upper-Level Biology Courses (at least two must include a lab and have been taken within the last five years.)", "Two courses in Quantitative Content (Physics I, Statistics I and/or Calculus I (or higher) in any combination)", "English Composition or Technical Writing", and "Two Courses in Social Sciences (psychology, anthropology or sociology in any combination)". The program's prerequisite checklist adds that every course must be for science majors where applicable, earn a C or better, and that the upper-level biology courses must be numbered 200 or above; it names cell and molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, and anatomy and physiology as "highly recommended" choices for those four slots. The five year recency window applies to the upper-level biology courses; no recency window is stated for the rest. AP credit is accepted where the prior institution applied it to a specific content area. GPA: "a cumulative, science and prerequisite G.P.A. of at least 3.2." A BA/BS from an accredited institution must be complete by program start. Experience: "at least 750 hours of quality direct patient contact experience to begin the PA program", paid, volunteer or a combination; "Competitive applicants will have this amount (or close to it) when you apply." Three letters are required: "one academic recommendation, one clinical/professional recommendation & one other academic or clinical recommendation." On exams: "Le Moyne does not require an entrance exam score (ex. GRE, PA-CAT, etc.) as part of the application process." CASPA application must be complete and verified by October 1.
