"Two semesters of general chemistry with laboratory." Minimum grade of B, within the previous 10 years.

  • Geneticsrecommendedextra here

    1 semester · 3 credits

"Genetics is highly recommended," stated alongside the two-semester biology requirement.

    6 credits

Most PA programmes ask for 2 semesters · 8 credits · lab.

"One semester of human anatomy AND one semester of human physiology OR a combination of Anatomy and Physiology I and II." The page names no laboratory for this line, so none is recorded; credits are stated as semesters, and the minimum here assumes two three-credit lectures.

    3 credits

Most PA programmes ask for 1 semester · 4 credits · lab.

"One semester of microbiology (in addition to the two biology courses)." The page names no laboratory for this line.

Experience hours

  • Patient care experiencerequireddiffers

    250+ hours

Most PA programmes ask for 500+ hours.

"Minimum of 250 hours of verifiable patient care experience in the U.S. healthcare system." The page does not list which roles count, does not say whether shadowing counts, and publishes no average for admitted students.

  • Healthcare experiencerecommended

    500+ hours

Many programs publish one combined healthcare figure instead of splitting patient care from healthcare exposure; where they do, the number lands here. Median published minimum is 500 hours.

  • PA shadowingrecommended

    20+ hours

Under a fifth of programs set a shadowing minimum; among those that do the median is 20 hours and a handful ask for 100 or more. Several count shadowing inside their experience total rather than separately, and a few have dropped it from scoring entirely.

Letters

  • Science faculty letternot required here

No faculty letter is asked for; the three letters are described only as professional, with one from a PA or physician.

  • PA letterrequireddiffers

    1 letter

Most PA programmes publish no minimum and list it as recommended.

"Three professional letters of recommendation, including one from a physician assistant or physician." A physician's letter satisfies this line equally; the other two letters are unrestricted.

  • Supervisor letternot required here

The three professional letters are unrestricted beyond one from a PA or physician; no supervisor letter is named.

Also on the school’s page

New York Tech publishes its prerequisites in semesters rather than credits: two semesters of biology with laboratory ("Genetics is highly recommended"), two semesters of general chemistry with laboratory, one semester of organic chemistry, one semester of biochemistry, one semester of microbiology ("in addition to the two biology courses"), one semester of psychology, "one semester of human anatomy AND one semester of human physiology OR a combination of Anatomy and Physiology I and II," and "two semesters of college math; one of these courses must be statistics." Only the biology and general chemistry lines name a laboratory. Grades: "Minimum grade of B in all prerequisite courses, which may be taken up to two times to achieve the required score." "Pass/fail grades are only acceptable if earned during the Spring 2020 semester." Recency: "The minimum prerequisite courses must be completed within the previous 10 years at a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or Canada." "You must have no more than four outstanding prerequisites by the application deadline; and only two of the four outstanding courses may be completed in the final spring semester." GPA floors are firm: "Minimum overall GPA of 3.0" and "Minimum science GPA of 3.2." A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required before matriculation, "preferably in a science or health-related field." Testing: "Please do not submit any GRE or MCAT scores as they will not be part of our evaluation process"; the page does not mention the PA-CAT or CASPer. Applications go through CASPA "no later than October 1 for the class entering the following fall," with a one-page personal narrative and three professional letters. Personal interviews are required for admission. The program admits 60 students annually with priority to its own six-year B.S./M.S. students, and it "does not award or grant advanced standing under any circumstances." The page does not address online or community college coursework, AP credit, or shadowing.
