Coursework

  • Biology with labrequiredextra here

    1 semester · 4 credits · lab

"General Biology (with lab), minimum 4 semester credits/6 quarter credits," required alongside anatomy and physiology rather than replaced by it.

  • General chemistry with labrequired

    2 semesters · 8 credits · lab

"General/Inorganic Chemistry (with lab), minimum 8 semester credits/12 quarter credits." The full two semester sequence with laboratory.

  • Organic chemistry with labrequiredextra here

    1 semester · 4 credits · lab

"Organic Chemistry (with lab), minimum 4 semester credits/6 quarter credits." One semester with lab; the second semester is not required.

  • Biochemistrynot required here

Biochemistry is not a named prerequisite. The chemistry ask is eight credits of general or inorganic chemistry with lab plus four credits of organic chemistry with lab.

  • English or writing-intensivenot required here

No English composition or writing course appears in the prerequisite list. The only non science prerequisites are introductory psychology and a second psychology or sociology course.

  • Statisticsnot required here

No statistics, biostatistics or mathematics course appears in Taylor's seven line prerequisite list.

  • Psychologyrequired

    1 semester · 3 credits

"General/Introductory Psychology, minimum 3 semester credits," with a second psychology or sociology course required beside it.

  • Advanced biologyrequiredextra here

    1 semester · 3 credits

"Additional Biology Course 200 level or higher, minimum 3 semester credits." Taylor names no course list and no laboratory, only the 200 level floor, so this is the place a microbiology or genetics course lands here.

  • Anatomy and physiologyrequired

    2 semesters · 8 credits · lab

"Anatomy and Physiology (with lab), minimum 8 semester credits/12 quarter credits." The full sequence with lab, at the same weight as the general chemistry ask.

  • Microbiologynot required here

Microbiology is not a named prerequisite here, which is rare on this path. It would count toward the "Additional Biology Course 200 level or higher" requirement, but nothing on the page requires it by name.

  • Medical terminologynot required here

Medical terminology does not appear in the prerequisite list.

  • Social sciences and humanitiesrequiredextra here

    1 semester · 3 credits

A second behavioral science course beyond introductory psychology: "Additional Psychology/Sociology Course, minimum 3 semester credits." Either discipline answers it.

Experience hours

  • Patient care experiencerecommendeddiffers

    500+ hours

Most PA programmes ask for 500+ hours and list it as required.

No separate patient care minimum is published. The only figure is the 250 hour healthcare experience floor, which counts paid, volunteer and shadowing hours together, though the program says "Preference will be given to hands-on patient care hours and paid experience." Treat 250 as the eligibility floor and hands on hours as what actually competes.

  • Healthcare experiencerequireddiffers

    250+ hours

Most PA programmes ask for 500+ hours and list it as recommended.

"A minimum of 250 hours of prior healthcare experience is required to apply. Experience can include paid, volunteer, and shadowing hours." Taylor publishes one combined healthcare experience number and does not split hands on patient care from other healthcare work, so the 250 hour floor is recorded here. It does state a preference within the bucket: "Preference will be given to hands-on patient care hours and paid experience."

  • PA shadowingrecommended

    20+ hours

No shadowing number is published. Unusually, shadowing counts toward the healthcare experience floor here rather than sitting in its own bucket: the 250 hours "can include paid, volunteer, and shadowing hours," though hands on patient care is preferred.

Letters

  • Science faculty letterrecommended

    No published minimum

Only a handful of programs require a science faculty letter by name. An academic letter is welcome nearly everywhere and mandatory almost nowhere.

  • PA letterrecommendeddiffers

    1 letter

Most PA programmes publish no minimum.

No PA letter is named. Two letters are required through CASPA and five are allowed, with no writer type specified.

  • Supervisor letterrecommendeddiffers

    1 letter

Most PA programmes publish no minimum.

No writer is required by role. "Two letters of recommendation submitted through CASPA (up to five are allowed)." Taylor does not say who either letter must come from.

Taylor's prerequisite list is seven lines long and heavily weighted toward chemistry and biology: general or inorganic chemistry with lab at a minimum of 8 semester credits or 12 quarter credits; organic chemistry with lab at 4 semester credits or 6 quarter; general biology with lab at 4 semester credits or 6 quarter; an "Additional Biology Course 200 level or higher" at 3 semester credits; anatomy and physiology with lab at 8 semester credits or 12 quarter; general or introductory psychology at 3 semester credits; and an "Additional Psychology/Sociology Course" at 3 semester credits. Microbiology, statistics, medical terminology, biochemistry and English are not on that list. Grades are floored per course and the wording closes the usual loophole: "A grade of C or higher in all prerequisite coursework. A grade of C- does not meet the requirement." Course sourcing is restricted: "All courses are subject to approval by the admissions committee and cannot be taken on a Pass/Fail basis, as CLEP credit, or audited. AP credit will be accepted." GPA floors are split, "Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2 (CASPA calculated) and minimum cumulative undergraduate science GPA of 3.0." A degree is needed by matriculation but not by application: "Completion of a bachelor's degree by the time of matriculation into the PA (MSPAS) program. You may apply prior to obtaining your degree, and there are no specific required degrees or majors to gain entrance." The page states no prerequisite recency or expiration window, and it names neither the GRE nor the PA-CAT anywhere, so no standardized test is stated as required. For August 2027 entry the CASPA application opens in April 2026 and "Your application must be designated in CASPA as 'verified' status by August 1, 2026."
