Coursework

  • Biology with labrequiredextra here

    1 semester · 4 credits · lab

"General Biology (with lab): One semester (minimum 4 semester credit hours)," required alongside anatomy and physiology and microbiology rather than in place of them.

  • General chemistry with labrequired

    2 semesters · 8 credits · lab

"General/Inorganic Chemistry (with lab): Two semesters (minimum 8 semester credit hours)." The full two semester sequence with laboratory.

  • Organic chemistry with labrequiredextra here

    2 semesters · 8 credits · lab

The full sequence, which few programs on this path still ask for: "Organic Chemistry (with lab): Two semesters (minimum 8 semester credit hours)." Both semesters, both with laboratory, at the same weight as general chemistry.

  • Biochemistrynot required here

Biochemistry is not a prerequisite here. The chemistry ask is eight credits of general or inorganic chemistry with lab plus eight credits of organic chemistry with lab.

  • English or writing-intensivenot required here

No English composition or writing course appears in the prerequisite list. The non science prerequisites are the six credit social science block and medical terminology.

  • Statisticsnot required here

No statistics, biostatistics or mathematics course appears in Evansville's prerequisite list.

  • Psychologyrequired

    1 semester · 3 credits

"Psychology: one semester," the first half of the six credit social science block. A second social science course is required beside it.

  • Anatomy and physiologyrequireddiffers

    6 credits · lab

Most PA programmes ask for 2 semesters · 8 credits · lab.

"Anatomy and Physiology (with lab): Two semesters (minimum 6 semester credit hours)." The full sequence with lab, but at six credits rather than the eight the baseline assumes.

  • Microbiologyrequireddiffers

    3 credits · lab

Most PA programmes ask for 1 semester · 4 credits · lab.

"Microbiology (with lab): One semester (minimum 3 semester credit hours)." Three credits rather than the baseline four, with the lab required.

  • Medical terminologyrequireddiffers

    1 credits

Most PA programmes ask for 1 credits and list it as recommended.

Required rather than recommended, at "minimum 1 semester credit hour," and listed as its own prerequisite line.

  • Social sciences and humanitiesrequiredextra here

    2 semesters · 6 credits

"Social Science: Two semesters (minimum 6 semester credit hours)," split as "Psychology: one semester" and "At least one other social science (e.g. sociology, anthropology, etc.)." The second course is deliberately open; sociology and anthropology are given as examples rather than as the list.

Experience hours

  • Patient care experiencerecommendeddiffers

    500+ hours

Most PA programmes ask for 500+ hours and list it as required.

Evansville is explicit and unusual on this point: "There are NO requirements for prior healthcare experience." No patient care hour floor exists here and none is implied. Hours still strengthen an application, but nothing on this page is a number you can fall below.

  • Healthcare experiencenot required here

"There are NO requirements for prior healthcare experience." Evansville publishes no healthcare experience figure of any kind, and does not distinguish patient care from other healthcare work because it requires neither.

  • PA shadowingrecommended

    20+ hours

Under a fifth of programs set a shadowing minimum; among those that do the median is 20 hours and a handful ask for 100 or more. Several count shadowing inside their experience total rather than separately, and a few have dropped it from scoring entirely.

Letters

  • Science faculty letterrecommended

    No published minimum

Only a handful of programs require a science faculty letter by name. An academic letter is welcome nearly everywhere and mandatory almost nowhere.

  • PA letterrecommendeddiffers

    1 letter

Most PA programmes publish no minimum.

No PA letter is named. Three letters are required through CASPA and five are allowed, with the writers left entirely to the applicant.

  • Supervisor letterrecommendeddiffers

    1 letter

Most PA programmes publish no minimum.

No writer is required by role. The ask is "Three letters of recommendation submitted through CASPA (up to 5 are allowed)" with no statement of who must write them.

Also on the school’s page

Evansville's prerequisite list is seven lines and unusually chemistry heavy: general or inorganic chemistry with lab, two semesters, minimum 8 semester credit hours; organic chemistry with lab, two semesters, minimum 8 semester credit hours; general biology with lab, one semester, minimum 4; microbiology with lab, one semester, minimum 3; anatomy and physiology with lab, two semesters, minimum 6; social science, two semesters, minimum 6, broken out as "Psychology: one semester" and "At least one other social science (e.g. sociology, anthropology, etc.)"; and medical terminology, minimum 1 semester credit hour. Statistics, biochemistry, English and any upper-level biology course are absent. Grades are floored per course with the near miss closed off: "A grade of C or higher in all prerequisite course work. A grade of C- does not meet the requirement," and pass or fail grades are not accepted for prerequisites. GPA is a flat floor in two places, "A minimum GPA of 3.0 (both overall and prerequisite)." The single most unusual line on this page is the experience policy: "There are NO requirements for prior healthcare experience." That is rare enough on this path to be worth reading twice, and it means Evansville sets no patient care hour floor at all. Neither the GRE nor the PA-CAT is mentioned anywhere, so no standardized test is stated as required. A degree is needed by matriculation, not by application: "Completion of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution by time of matriculation into the PA Program." No prerequisite recency or expiration window is stated, and the page addresses no online, AP or CLEP policy. The application deadline to be considered for interviews is August 1.
